Mic Urban: “With the constant technological breakthroughs in our modern world,  each day we subconsciously separate ourselves more and more from Mother Earth. My newest collection, “Lineal”, explores the innate connection between nature and our ancestors - an undeniable bond that our “primitive” predecessors understood without the help of modern science. Each piece in this collection was made from seeds and stems from El Yunque, and later cast in solid silver using the Lost Wax casting technique. Inspired by Taíno mythology, muse @kalimagoddess embodies a modern “Atabey” - the Taíno goddess of fertility. Taíno women traditionally gave birth alone in remote rivers and prayed to Atabey for a successful birth. The modern styling in this photoshoot serves as a bridge between the ancient world of Atabey and our own, while the earring pictured is inspired by the crescent moon - a symbol revered and adored by ancient and modern cultures alike.
